Watched a new show last night

Pretty good, there hasn't been any new shows in this genre in quite sometime, definitely overdue.

Another Rant......

I despise Daylight Savings Time! It's going to be dark just a little after 6 PM!!! A big middle-finger flip off to Indiana's lawmakers that made my county adopt daylight savings time!

Today's Rants & Raves

Rant: www.Joann.com

I've placed online orders before from Joann Fabrics and have been happy with the delivery time; in fact, I've been happy with the whole online shopping experience at Joann.com, from selection, checkout, delivery, and quality. I'd always gotten my order in a few days. It used to be that they sent my online purchases via UPS -- now they are delivered via FedEx.

This time, it's been a whole different story. I placed an order on Oct. 23 (3:00 in the afternoon). They had a great sale on Halloween items! I ordered a witch costume & broom for my daughter, 2 funkins, sterling jump rings, a couple of push molds, and some gorgeous curtain rods that were on clearance. I had no worries that the items I ordered would be here in 7 or 8 days. Yeah, yeah, the website has a disclaimer to allow 5-10 business days..... it's always taken just 3 or 4 days to get to me. As you can see, I wasn't even able to begin tracking my order until the 27th, and the rest on the 29th. Somehow, I sincerely doubt that this is FedEx's fault, it looks like it's taken FOREVER for Joann.com to get my shipment to FedEx.

So......... Halloween's come and gone, and I'm still waiting for my order to get here.  At least I had a back-up costume for my daughter.

I contacted customer service:

Hello,

What the heck has gone on with this order? It was placed on 23rd @ 3pm, couldn't even track as of yesterday. Today, the tracking shows up and it appears that it never left the first FedEx until yesterday and today? It also appears that the packages didn't even get to FedEx until the 27th & 29th? (Monday & Wed)

I doubt that FedEx would hold them for 2 to 3 days, I've never seen a shipment do that. I even had a package arrive via FedEx Home Delivery from Florida (to Indiana) in 2 days.

Figures though, I didn't have the time to drive out to Joann's to make a purchase (they're all an hour away) and I wanted it by today. Any other time, my orders arrive within 3 days, it's already been 8 full days. Thanks. My daughter doesn't have a Halloween costume for tonight. Good job. Guess I'll buy everything I need from now on at Hobby Lobby/CraftsEtc. Yes, I realize that on your website it states packages can take from 7-10 days to arrive, but this has never been the case, my packages have always arrived much faster. Silly me to expect the same service time after time.

I realize I don't spend a lot online and it surely won't impact your bottom line, but I spend a lot more in-store. I regret to say that this will surely change as there is also a Micheal's & Hobby Lobby nearby.

Gee, how nice, they'll refund my shipping if my order doesn't arrive "on time".

Rave:
FedEx Delivery

I finally bought a laptop from an eBay seller. It's really gotten to the point where I have to have one. The laptop was shipped Monday from Florida, keep in mind that I live in Indiana. My laptop got here on Wednesday - wasn't express shipping or anything, just regular ol' Ground Home Delivery. Thank you FedEx, for getting my precious laptop to me safe & sound (and FAST!)

Conclusion:

Will I shop online at Joann.com again? Highly unlikely. Good gawd, I've ordered online from stores during the Christmas rush and have still gotten packages on time. Joann's 5-10 business days = 7-14 real days. Sorry, unacceptable. While this has always been the case, it was never a consideration of mine because I'd always gotten my shipments FAST.

There's other places to shop and if I really want something from Joann.com, I can have my BFF pick it up for me and bring it out here when she visits. On the ocassion I need crafting supplies, well......... hey, there's Micheal's and Hobby Lobby just a few minutes away from the Joann Fabrics store I shop at when I go to the city. I shudder to think of the thousands of dollars I've spent there in my lifetime (quite possibly hitting the range of 'tens of thousands'). Think about it - I've spent money there since I was a kid. I've always been into making things and Joann Fabrics was only about a mile away from the house I grew up in. I always had the opportunity to shop there as my mom was a crafter too. Shame they'll be losing a customer over a measly $57 order.

$700 Billion.......

I'm glad the $700 Billion Bailout plan didn't get the votes it needed to pass. I fail to see why the tax paying citizens of this country should have to use their tax dollars to bail out big companies that made poor choices. I was always under the assumption that economics based on a lasiez faire (spelling???) platform meant that it's that if a business doesn't make it, then it just sinks........ goes out of business......... dies. It's their own fault and shouldn't expect the government or citizens to bail them out. "Here's some more money........try again!" There was little in the bill to help people facing forclosure on their homes right here and now. I thought it stunk. One person (don't remember who) likened it to a cow pattie with a marshmallow in the middle.   I felt that it was poetic justice that the stock market took it's biggest dive in the entire history of the stock market - 777 points. Kinda wondered if that's supposed to be worse than 666! The bell that always 'opens' the start of the stock market trading for the day failed to ring........... don't know what other hint Wall Street needed to see it was going to be a bad day.

Oh well, my 2 cents today for what it's worth.

What three things do you miss from your younger years?

The three things I miss the most from my childhood are: my Dad, my innocence (not meant in a sexual connotation, but as in the 'innocence of a child'), and my grandma. I wish the question was for 4 things - I'd add my Mom to the list as well. Yes, I miss her (yesterday was 6 years since she passed away), but I also got to have her in my life the longest.......I've always yearned for those who passed when I was younger.

I just answered this Featured Question; you can answer it too!
